Abstract: | This study examined how personality and self-efficacy influenced academic
performance of fuoye students. It also investigated the contribution of age on
academic performance among fuoye students. One hundred and thirteen
students of federal university Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. Responded to a set
of questionnaires consisting of the measures of the Big Five personality and
general self efficacy scales. The main hypotheses states that there will be a
significant difference among the people who score high and low on academic
performance based o the ivs and these hypotheses were tested at.05 level of
significance. Students CGPA was used to measure academic performance. ttest
for independent samples was statistically used to analyze the data
collected through cluster sampling method from the sample. The result of the
analysis showed that some facets of the big five personality did not influence
academic performance, and some did. Self efficacy also was not found to
influence the academic performance of fuoye students. Age was also found to
contribute to academic performance. This research indicates that it is
necessary to emphasize on some basic personality characteristics and agerelated
behavior in improving academic performance of Fuoye students
proactively rather than retroactively trying to solve problems that emerge in
order to improve academic performance. |
