Abstract: | Vehicle pollution continues to attract worldwide attention and relevance. The danger posed to human health, depreciation of resources, depletion of ozone layer, contributions to acid rain and photochemical smog caused by the pollution due to global rapid increase in the number of vehicles on the road help to force the issue into recognition. This paper analyses vehicle emissions and examines its effects on natural environment. Hydrocarbons, oxides of nitrogen, carbon monoxides, carbon dioxide and other vehicle pollutants emissions were discussed. With regard to automobile there are three general areas of concern: urban pollution, especially in highly polluted cities, depletion of the ozone layers and pollution resulting in disturbance of natural environment. Several methods of effective control of vehicles emissions to meet current and future environmental demands are analysed |
